A Weekend Guide to Singapore

Light installation - Art Science Museum Singapore

Singapore is so clean, pretty beautiful, and has a ton of fun things to do. You could easily spend a whole week exploring this city, but if all you have is a long weekend, then the itinerary below will give you a great taste of all the things that Singapore has to offer.

Day 1:

Marina Bay Sands

If it’s within your budget, I highly recommend at least one night staying at the Marina Bay Sands hotel. The hotel is pretty nice, and if you get a room with city views then you’re definitely in for a treat. But the real highlight of the hotel is, of course, the rooftop infinity pool – which you can only use if you’re a hotel guest. Check-in and spend your afternoon lounging by the pool and gazing out at the beautiful city skyline.

If you’re not a guest at the hotel, you can still head up to the observation deck for gorgeous views over the city and toward Sentosa Island. On clear days you can see as far as Indonesia!

Gardens by the bay (Night)

Once you’ve gone back to your room and freshened up for the evening, head over to the Gardens by the Bay (free to enter) for the evening. It’s worth doing both a daytime and nighttime visit to the gardens. At night, you’ll see everything lit up with twinkling lights, looking pretty special.

Drinks on the roof

If you’re up to it, your nights stay at the Marina Bay is also the perfect excuse to utilise the rooftop bar, C’est La Vie.

Day 2:

Art Science Museum

Right by the Marina Bay Sands is the Art Science Museum, which is a really fun day out. You get discounted entry tickets as a Marina Bay Sands guest, so it’s definitely worth tieing in with your stay if possible. The museum is full of immersive exhibits, including the famous lightroom.

Gardens by the Bay (Day)

Once you’re done in the Museum, grab some lunch from one of the nearby cafes and head back over to Gardens by the Bay for your daytime visit. Here you can visit the cactus gardens or the cloud forest, which houses the worlds tallest indoor waterfall. You can also do the skywalk if you’re not too afraid of heights!

Chinatown

For the evening, head over to the Chinatown neighbourhood. Here you can wander the streets of Chinatown, browse in the market and shops, and eat some incredible street food, finished off with a refreshing Tiger Beer.

Day 3:

Little India:

Little India is another cute neighbour to explore during your visit to Singapore. You’ll find loads of great Indian restaurants, markets, shops and tons of colourful buildings to admire.

History of Singapore

If you fancy learning more about the history of Singapore, you can visit the National Museum of Singapore, which is the nations oldest museum. If you’re itching for more museums, then the National Gallery and Singapore Art Museum are also worth a visit while you’re in that area.

Day 4:

Sentosa Island

The best cities are those that have easy access to a beach as well, and Singapore is one of these! If you enjoy the beach, then Sentosa Island should be on your to-do list. There are loads of free things to do here, including Tanjong Beach, Fort Siloso Skywalk and exploring the southernmost tip of Asia! However, if you’re more of a thrill-seeker than a beach-chiller, Sentosa Island also has something for you…

Universal studios

That’s right, Sentosa Island is home to Universal Studios Singapore – the perfect way for you to spend your final day here. Spend the whole day having fun in the park and riding exhilarating rollercoaster favourites like The Mummy, Battlestar Galactica and Jurrasic Park.
